Frequently Asked Questions
About Hot Springs
  • Q.
Are the baths in the hotel hot springs?
    A.
All of Mikuniya's private baths are natural hot springs. The hot spring water distributed to the inn at Kinosaki Onsen is about 58 degrees, so we adjust the temperature by adding water. In order to keep the hot springs clean, we use both free-flowing and circulating water.
  • Q.
Can I visit all the outdoor baths? Also, does it cost money?
    A.
Guests staying at inns in Kinosaki Onsen are provided with an outdoor bath ticket that can be used during your stay at the inn (from check-in until 3:30 pm after check-out). If you use this ticket, you will not have to pay at the outdoor bath. However, please note that a bathing tax and bathing fee of 450 yen will be charged at check-out in addition to the accommodation fee, even if you do not use the hot spring.
  • Q.
    Can I shop at Yumepa?
    A.
    Yumepa has ended its service.
  • Q.
Can I rent a yukata and use the private bath even if I'm only staying overnight?
    A.
Please rest assured that all guests staying at our hotel will be provided with free yukata rentals and free use of all private baths.
  • Q.
I would like to visit all seven outdoor baths. Is that possible?
    A.
It is possible to visit all seven outdoor baths during your stay at Kinosaki Onsen, but we recommend that you check in early. The outdoor bath ticket (free pass) can be used during your stay at the inn (from check-in until 3:30 pm after check-out), so please check the Kinosaki Onsen Tourist Association Outdoor Bath Calendar in advance or call Mikuniya to confirm as some baths have shorter opening hours or closed days.
  • Q.
Is the hot spring in the hotel hot?
    A.
The temperature of the hot spring in the building varies slightly depending on the air temperature, but is set at 42.5°. If anything, it is set to be on the hotter side.
  • Q.
I am pregnant. Can I take a bath?
    A.
Of course you can take a bath. The hot spring is hot, so if you want to adjust the temperature, please use the "Yume" bath. This bath can be added with water, so you can adjust the temperature to your liking.

A female staff member from our hotel will come to your room and help you put on the kimono.

Make sure you match the right outfits and wear the yukata, tanzen, and haori in the right order. Keep the basics in mind when wearing a yukata. If you're wearing a colored yukata, choose a color that's a little more flashy than usual, and use the waist strings to make a nice ohashi-ori. If you have any questions, please call the front desk and we'll give you the appropriate advice.
others
  • Q.
Where is the inn located? Can I easily find it even if it's my first time here?
    A.
It is about a 3-minute walk from Kinosaki Onsen Station, and is located halfway along the road that leads from Kinosaki Onsen Station to Jizoyu. The rickshaw at the entrance is the landmark. It is easy to find even for first-time visitors.
  • Q.
Is it okay to ride a rickshaw in front of the inn?
    A.
Up to two adults can ride on the bus. However, it cannot be moved. Please feel free to take a commemorative photo as a memento of your trip to Kinosaki Onsen. If you call out to us, we will take a picture for you, so please feel free to ask.
  • Q.
Do you have any recommendations for lunch after check-out?
    A.
What you should try at Kinosaki Onsen are the Tajima beef and fresh seafood. Personally, I recommend the seafood bowl at Kaichuen on the second floor of Okesho Fresh Fish, and the Tajima beef nigiri at Ori Tsuru sushi! For other recommendations in Kinosaki Onsen, please see the Kinosaki Onsen Tourism Information > Recommended Restaurants page. Also, if you let us know what you would like to eat for lunch, we will be happy to help you.
  • Q.
Are there any souvenirs you would recommend from Kinosaki?
    A.
We recommend the Danjiri Taiko (a type of manju dumpling), a specialty of Kinosaki Onsen, and traditional straw crafts. Souvenirs of the local heroes, the Kinosaki Onsenger, are also popular.
  • Q.
I'm going with my girlfriend, are there any tourist spots you'd recommend?
    A.
If you're in Kinosaki Onsen, it's the summit of the Kinosaki Ropeway. At the summit, you can throw a tile at a target. It's said that if you hit it, your wish will come true. On a clear day, you can see the Sea of Japan and enjoy the experience of grilling dango. If you're looking for a tourist spot near Kinosaki Onsen, we recommend the Stork Village Park. Storks are also known as "birds of luck" and are said to bring happiness, so even more happiness may descend upon you two. Kinosaki Marine World is also a must-see date spot.
  • Q.
Are there any recommended spots for families with children?
    A.
We recommend Maruyamagawa Park, a 10-minute drive away, where you can enjoy canoeing, kayaking, and swimming in the summer, and skating in the winter. As it is a prefectural facility, the fees are reasonable. It is a great spot for making memories with the family. We also recommend Kinosaki Marine World, where you can enjoy dolphin shows, sea lion shows, and penguin shows. There is also a horse mackerel fishing pond, where you can enjoy freshly caught fish made into tempura on the spot.
  • Q.
Does it snow in winter? Can I get there by car?
    A.
Snow often accumulates in Kinosaki Onsen from mid-December to the end of February every year. Guests coming by car should be sure to bring snow tires or tire chains. If you call our hotel before you leave, we can let you know about the road conditions to Kinosaki Onsen, so please call if you are worried.
